This week, OATA was made aware by JNCC that it has undertaken a review of its non-detriment findings for Acanthophyllia deshayesiana and Trachyphyllia geoffroyi corals from Indonesia. As a result, JNCC has changed its pre-existing negative opinion on these Species-Country combinations and concluded that a non-detriment finding can be made and has therefore formed a UK positive opinion for both species/country combinations.

As a result, these species are now legal for export from Indonesia and applications can now be made by traders wishing to import these species.

OATA is currently working with JNCC to produce a guide for traders on how to check the legal status for different species-country combinations for coral. We intend to publish this in the coming months.
