Water quality is paramount to the health and welfare of aquatic species and is an important element of our Code of Conduct for member businesses.

We have produced water quality criteria which provide a list of parameters for maintaining good water quality and fish welfare for businesses (these will be different than for a home aquarium).

Our Code of Conduct states that water testing should be done weekly and proper records of water testing is also vital. Animal Activities Licensing guidance also has conditions on water testing and recording keeping. OATA members can find help with suggested record sheets in our Members’ Area.

For customers and hobbyists we have also created our free Understand and test for water quality care sheets for tropical and marine aquariums.
