OATA’s City and Guilds-accredited training programmes have been nominated for an award.

The Foundation and Advanced training programmes are on the shortlist for the Positive Business Impact Award in the annual Nimble awards.

The award is presented to the organisation or individual demonstrating ‘significant business impact through the use of elearning’ by Nimble Elearning, the online training course provider which hosts OATA’s two training packages.

The OATA training not only supports professional standards and animal welfare across the aquatic trade, but also plays a key role in helping retailers meet licensing requirements. The resulting growth in learner numbers and positive feedback reflects the success of their approach – boosting revenue that’s reinvested to support the industry. A fantastic achievement from a passionate, expert-led team.

OATA’s Scientific Support Officer Emily Maunder, who helps deliver the online training packages, said: “OATA has a long history of providing industry training for the ornamental aquatics industry, and it has changed and improved over that time, not least when it became accredited by City and Guilds.

“The training courses have been created by ornamental aquatics experts for the industry, to help drive up standards and knowledge. And they are a great way for retailers to provide quality training opportunities for the staff and comply with training requirements in animal activities licensing.

“We know our training is extremely useful for the industry we represent, so it’s great to have that acknowledged through making the shortlist for this award. There’s no question that having qualified and knowledgeable staff makes a positive impact and can contribute to the success of a business.”

OATA will hear if it’s a winner at a special awards dinner held in September.
