The Government has announced that it is extending the timetable for the introduction of the next stage of UK import requirements in order to ensure minimal disruption to supply chains. This will affect both plant importers and those who import animals and products of animal origin (eg fish food).
From October 2021:
- Products of Animal Origin (POAO) for human consumption must be accompanied by a GB health certificate and pre-notified using IPAFFS before arrival at the border.
- Certain animal by-products (ABP) must be accompanied by a GB health certificate and pre-notified using IPAFFS before arrival at the border.
- Goods will be subject to remote documentary checks.
From January 2022:
- Germinal products, POAO and certain ABP are required to arrive at a point of entry with a designated Border Control Post (BCP) to allow identity and physical checks to be carried out. The requirements for health certification and pre-notification already introduced continue.
From March 2022:
- Live animalsare required to arrive at a point of entry with a designated BCP to allow identity and physical checks to be carried out.
