Changes are afoot in both Wales and Scotland which have both introduced new regulations on the licensing of animal activities such as pet shops.

While legislation has been passed and is now in force the guidance used by local authorities on which to base their licensing regimes is still being formulated.

OATA is putting forward our comments, particularly around what is expected for selling fish, to both administrations but we have yet to see the final guidance.

However, it seems likely that this may affect retailers’ next licencing visit and we will update on what effect it may have when we know more.
