A new report from the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) and the UK Sturgeon Alliance has been launched containing a 10 year plan to help in the conservation of UK sturgeon in the hope of increasing numbers of this fish in native waters.
We are very pleased to have worked with ZSL and the Alliance in the development of this important action plan and for our industry Objective 5 – to reduce releases from the pet trade – is an important element we can all play our part in.
Talking to customers about the importance of not releasing pet fish into UK waterways, where they risk becoming invasive and harming native wildlife, will help to achieve this. So please include the ‘no release’ message on information to all customers when they buy fish.
