The Government has updated its advice on the Small Business Grant Fund which is available to small businesses through the business rates system. This will be administered by your local authority.

We would advise businesses to check with their local authority to make sure it has the right information about your business, especially if you are currently exempt from paying business rates.

The updated guidance says local authorities should be checking before they pay the grant. But we have heard from one member business which found his local authority did not have the most up-to-date information about his business, despite having told them of changes some time ago. So we would suggest you actively check what information is registered about your business to ensure the grant will come to you.
