This is extremely disappointing news and we find it frustrating that the Government has not recognised that to bring in these fees now, when we do not know border arrangements could be when we exit the EU, will be very damaging for UK business.

Currently plants that come into the UK from EU countries (like Holland which is a big plant exporter) do not incur any checks or fees. But post-Brexit, there is the potential that plants coming in from EU countries could be subject to these fees and healthchecks in the future.

We believe any fee increases should have been delayed until it was clear what border arrangements will be post-Brexit.

We also question the huge percentage increases which see daytime consignment fees go up by 218%.

The new fees are due to be in place on 6 April 2018.

Read the submission we wrote about the fee structure.
